Your Criticism and Negativity Isn’t Helping Your Brand
The algorithm loves rage — but genuine followers want hope.
Okay, here’s a confession from me — I LOVE Twitter.
I know, I know… these days, the bird platform can be a bit of a dumpster fire (to put it lightly).
But as a business owner and digital creator, I depend on the connections I make on social media to grow my brand and promote my work — so it’s a necessary evil.
One thing that Twitter has taught me is the importance of having a positive attitude when it comes to promoting your personal brand.
It can be tempting to focus on being the critic, naysayer, or contrarian — especially when trying to stand out in a crowded space. But when it comes to your personal brand, having this attitude can actually work against you.
Confessions Of A Twitter Junkie
Trust me, I know. I used to utilize Twitter as my personal grief chamber — unloading my complaints and frustrations about the world around me. (What’s worse, I was a pastor!)
And while this may have won me a few likes and retweets, it certainly wasn’t helping build relationships with other creators or showcasing my talents in a positive light.
