The Case for Holiday Rest

Because freelancers need a break sometimes, too .

Ah, the holiday season. That magical time of year when work winds down, family and friends get together, and we all get a much-needed chance to rest and recharge.

Right?

I’m talking to you, my fellow freelancers.

I know how easy it is for us self-employed folks to just keep pushing through the holidays with nose to the grindstone.

After all, time is money, right? Who can afford to take a break when there are always more clients to pursue and projects to work on?

Believe me though, I’ve learned this the hard way: if you don’t purposefully build in downtime, you’ll burn out.

So do yourself a favor and actually relax and enjoy yourself this December!

Spend time doing whatever recharges you — maybe it’s getting out into nature, cooking fancy meals, playing games with friends or doing an extended Netflix binge.

I don’t care what it is — after the year (or years!) we’ve all had, you straight up deserve a guilt-free break — however short.

And here’s a reassuring thought: all that client work you temporarily step away…
