I remember when I first told someone I was quitting my 9–5 job. “I’m going to take this side hustle and turn it into a real business.”

Their response was two parts encouragement and one part fear.

“That’s great! I’m so happy for you. But, just remember, most entrepreneurs have a tough time making it work.”

I’m sure you’ve been told something similar. And, if you’re like most people, that doubt has seeped into your own self-talk at some point.

“Can I really do this?”

“What if I fail?

“Maybe they’re right. Maybe this is just a pipe dream.”

As an entrepreneur, you have to put those ideas to death. You have to get rid of self-doubt and negative thinking if you’re ever going to make your business work.

Here are 5 lies every entrepreneur must put to death:

Lie #1: “I need X before I can start.”

Here’s the incredible reality of today’s market: you need very little to get started. In fact, you can start with just an idea.
