Seneca’s Stoic Secret to A Life of Purpose

Our world is chaotic and full of despair. That’s why wasting our chance to change it is such a shame.

When I became a parent, I heard a similar phrase time and time again:

“Get ready! Your life is going to fly by now.”

And it did.

Suddenly, I was responsible for someone else’s life and well-being in a way that I had never been before.

In the midst of this new phase of life, I started thinking about what it all meant.

What was the point of it all? Why were we here? What was the point of working so hard if, in the end, we all died?

Deep, right?

And the more you dig into these types of questions, the more you realize how little we actually know about life and its purpose.

But there is one person who can help us make sense of it all: the Stoic philosopher Seneca. In his quote, “As is a tale, so is life: not how long it is, but how good it is, is what matters,” Seneca gives us a framework for understanding how to live a life full of purpose.

In essence, Seneca is saying that life is like a story.
