It’s not easy to be a freelancer. You have to be great at everything: writing, marketing, networking, accounting, and the list goes on.

That may be why so many freelancers give up and go back to the 9-to-5 life.

Here’s the good news: it doesn’t have to be that way!

With the right tips and techniques — and a bit of elbow grease — you can make it as a freelancer.

Here are five tips to help boost your chances of freelance success:

1. Get organized — really organized.

If you want to be a successful freelancer, you need to get organized. That means creating a system for tracking your projects, clients, and deadlines.

And as a laid-back, “who needs administration?” type of guy, that spells disaster. That’s why I need tools to help me stay on track.

There are plenty of excellent project management tools out there — find one that works for you and stick to it.
