How I Supercharge My Day with Ancient Stoic Wisdom
Give yourself a boost by wielding the power of the stoics.

I’m an entrepreneur and freelance writer, which means much of my daily life requires a bit of self-discipline and motivation.
One moment I can be working on a new project, and the next, I might be researching an article.
To be completely honest, it’s incredibly fun and extremely exhausting — often at the same time.
Throw in a world of notifications, distractions, and constant temptations to procrastinate, and it’s safe to say that staying focused isn’t always easy.
That’s why I try to draw inspiration from the Stoic philosophers of Ancient Greece and Rome. Their timeless teachings offer us invaluable wisdom about life — that although much is out of our control, how we think determines how well we live.
I’ve learned that one of the best ways to supercharge my day is by taking a few minutes every morning to meditate on Stoic wisdom.
By focusing on their teachings, I can better ward off stress and anxiety, stay proactive in the face of adversity, and remain focused even when things become chaotic or overwhelming.
Here’s an example of how I do it — hopefully, it’ll help you too!
In The Morning: Set Your Intentions
The Power of Purpose
““First say to yourself what you would be; and then do what you have to do.” — Epictetus
Begin your day with a clear understanding of your larger goals in life. These intentions can inform the smaller decisions you make and motivate any seemingly unremarkable tasks that need to be completed.
Morning meditation, journaling, or just a few minutes of reflection will help you set your intentions for the day.
This one is big for me, especially when I’m confronted with the impulse to procrastinate on mundane tasks.
When I focus on why I’m doing something and its contribution to my larger intentions, it’s easier for me to stay motivated and keep things moving forward.
