No, seriously. If you’re a designer, developer, or creative, “building in public” is one of the most innovative things you can do to grow your career.

What is “building in public”?

Building in public means creating and sharing your work online, in real-time, as you make it.

It’s the opposite of working in a vacuum and keeping your work to yourself until it’s “perfect” (whatever that means).

Building in public has a few benefits:

  1. It holds you accountable.
  2. It builds your audience from the ground up.
  3. It gets you feedback early and often.
  4. It builds your credibility.

It’s human nature to be curious about how things are made, and by sharing your process with the world, you can use that curiosity to your advantage.

And when you share your work publicly, you’re more likely to actually follow through and finish what you started.
