3 Tips for Overcoming Bad Client Feedback
We’ve all been there. Here’s how to keep it from derailing your day.
Last week I received some wild feedback on an article from a client.
Like, the “do you even have a brain?” type of feedback.
It caught me off guard and almost derailed my confidence. The imposter monster raised its ugly head once more, and I found myself struggling to push ahead with the other client work on my plate.
How dare they criticize me? Do they even understand the work I’m doing?
But, as I’ve come to find, there’s no such thing as bad feedback. There’s a nugget of truth in every critique if you’re willing to find it.
And while it’s easy to get defensive and want to run away from criticism, you’ll have to learn how to navigate it eventually.
Over the past few years, I’ve discovered a few key ways to acknowledge, accept, and use negative feedback to propel me forward. Hopefully, they can help you as well!
